Tiger
(Panthera tigris)


  Habitat: forests, bushes and grassland in mountain areas.

  Feeding habits: attacking from hiding places secretly and kill its prey with its paws and teeth.

  Food: large-and-middle-sized herbivores and domestic animals. 

  Size: with a body length of 120-200 cm and a tail of 100 cm long. Weight: 100-200 kg.

  Habits:   Tiger is a kind of fierce nocturnal beast. It is good at catching its prey through attacking from a hiding place. Its prey includes: roe deer, deer, wild boars or even black bears. It is good at swimming. Tigers are quite cautious and suspicious. As soon as it finds anything unusual on the ways it has passed, the tiger would rather make a detour than run any risks. Tigers act alone and each tiger occupies an area of 80-100 square kilometers. Tiger is the largest felidae beast in the world and is only distributed in Asia. It has 8 sub-orders, among which, the Caucasus tiger, the Xinjiang tiger and Bali tiger have become distinct. The number of other sub-orders is also reducing sharply.

  Distribution: South Yunnan, Northeast China and mountain areas in South China.

  Level of protection: Class I key state protection animal of China.
