In order to let more people know the giant panda and support the enterprise of protecting it, the Wolong giant panda research center also sent old giant pandas that have passed the reproduction period to visit many zoos in China and the world.
In September 1996, "Bai Yun" and "Bai Shi" were sent to the San Diego Zoo for a long-term cooperation. The two parts has exchanged experts for work or further study for several times. Experts from the two parties exchanged experience on the feeding and management, reproduction and physiology, disease treatment, manual breeding, and behavior of the giant pandas. After endeavors from both parties, "Bai Yun" gave birth to a panda cub named "Hua (China) Mei (America)," signifying that it is a symbol of the Sino-American friendship.
On March, 1999, "Jia Jia" and "An An" are sent to Hong Kong Ocean Park. With instructions from experts of Wolong, the park conducted a lot of scientific researches on the feeding, management and disease treatment of the giant panda. In July 2000, "Jinzhu" and "Shuang Shuang" were lent to Kobe City Prince Zoo in Japan.
On December 2000, "Tian Tian" and "Mei Xiang" were sent to Washington National Zoo in America for long-term research. With instructions from experts of Wolong, the park conducted a lot of scientific researches on the feeding, management, nutrition, behavior, reproduction and disease treatment of the giant panda. Now, 15 giant pandas have been sent out for research cooperation or exhibition.
