The astragalus

Current Condition: vulnerable species. The astragalus is also named the astragulus membranaceu. It is mainly distributed in northern areas of China. A precious Chinese medical herb, its root (radix astragulus) can be used as medicine. Because of longtime over collection, the number of astragalus plants decreased rapidly in recent years; therefore, if protection and artificial plantation measures are not reinforced, the astragalus may become an endangered species in years.
Value and Significance of Protection: The root of astragalus is a medicine of tonification or an animal medicine; and therefore it has a large sale volume. Its rhizome, immersed in 10 times of water, has inhibition effect to potato late blight. The astragalus plant also helps in the correction of torrent.

The longevity grass: Trillium tschonoskii

Current Condition: vulnerable species. Because of over-logging, the lower part of the forest has deteriorated. Over-collection and a low germination rate have also contributed to the shrinking of the longevity grass.
Value and Significance of Protection: the longevity grass is discontinuously distributed in East Asia and North America. Because of its peculiar morphological characteristic, scholars deviate in their opinion about the position of the longevity grass in classification. Therefore, the protection of the longevity grass has a significance in future uncovering the classification and botanical flora of the longevity grass genus. The rhizome of the longevity grass has diosgenin that can be used in medicine.
Geographical Distribution: It is distributed in forests at an altitude of 2400 to 2700meters.

The officinal magnolia: Magnolia officinalis

Current Condition: vulnerable species. A precious tree species indigenous to China, the officinal magnolia is widely distributed in the north subtropical zone. Its bark can be used in medicine. Due to over-barking and logging, the resource and distribution area of this tree species has shrunk sharply. Now, wild magnolias are rarely seen. Now, most small-scale pure forests of magnolia are most artificially planted.
Value and Significance of Protection: the officinal magnolia is a widely distributed and primitive member of the magnolia family.  It has scientific significance to researches on East Asia and North America flora and taxonomy of the magnolia family. The officinal magnolia is also a precious species for both medical use and timer wood production. The Chinese goldthread: Neopicrorhiza scrophulariiflora

Current Condition: vulnerable species. A tradition Chinese medical herb, the wild Chinese goldthread has become very rare because of longtime and large-scale collection. Now, nearly all Chinese goldthread in market is artificially planted.
Value and Significance of Protection: as a famous tradition medical herb in China, the Chinese goldthread is known for its long history and distinctive medical effect. As a result, it has great economic value.
Geographical Distribution: at an altitude of 1120 to 1500 meters.
